The Idaho trademark search allows users to search the Secretary of State database for active and expired service marks and trademarks. Only those marks registered in Idaho can be found with this service. Users have the ability to search by trademark name, owner name, or file number.
Idaho trademarks endure for a period of 10 years before renewal is necessary.[1] To be eligible for registration, a trademark must be currently active in commerce.[2] That means the business/individual must already be using it to identify their services or goods.
Trademark Search
1. Go to “Trademark Search” Page
2. Enter Name or File Number
On the trademark homepage, enter either the name of the trademark or the file number. If searching by name, it does not have to be the full name, it can simply be a keyword contained within it.
To adjust the search results further, select the Advanced Search Options tab (see image) to be presented with the following options:
- Starts with (the entered name)
- Contains (the entered name)
- Active trademarks only (to filter out expired trademarks)
- Search Owners (to research by trademark owner)
4. Review Trademark Details
A second window will appear on the right-hand side of the webpage with the following info:
- Owner
- Address
- Applicant type
- Collective mark
- Status
- Expiration date
- Goods or services
- Class(es)
- Date first used in Idaho
- Date first used anywhere
- Trademark specimen (image)
- Certificate download (click Print Certificate for auto-download)
