The Tennessee Trademark and Service Mark Search is a database containing all active and expired marks registered in the state. A mark is defined as either a trademark, which is used to designate goods, or a service mark, which is used to designate services.[1]
A mark can be registered by filing an application with the Secretary of State. If approved, the mark remains valid for five years. Within six months of the expiration date, the registration can be renewed for another five-year term, and every five years thereafter, provided the mark remains in use.[2]
