New Hampshire DBA & Trademark Search | Secretary of State

The New Hampshire business search webpage gives people the ability to easily search state records for trademarks and trade names. A trademark can be any registered name, symbol, or device that identifies the goods a business supplies or sells, while DBA (“Doing Business As”) is the name a business publicly operates under.[1]

A trademark in New Hampshire is effective for 10 years from the date of registration, and must be renewed 6 months prior to its expiration.[2]

Trademark & Trade Name Search

1. Go to the “Business Search” Webpage

2. Enter the Name and Perform Search

Business Name is selected as the default search. Above the Business Name field one of the following search options must be selected:

  • Starts With
  • Exact Match
  • Contains
  • All Words

For this example, Contains was selected so that the results will show any entity names that contain the inputted words.

Enter the desired name into the Business Name field and click the Search button to view a list of matching results.


3. View Search Results

Clicking Search opens a webpage displaying all matching results. Clicking any entity name, will open a new page with a detailed breakdown of its information and status.


4. View Detailed Business Info

The detailed Business Information page, provides the following trade name and trademark information:

  • Trade Name Information:
    • Business Name
    • Business ID
    • Business Status
    • Trade Name Owner (incl. Title & Addresss)
  • Trademark Information:
    • Trade Mark Number
    • Trademark Name
    • Business Address
    • Mailing Address
