The Arizona trademark and trade name search enables users to research the Secretary of State database by entity name, file number, or owner. Trademarks, trade names (also called “DBAs”), and entity names can all be researched using this service.
To be accepted for registration, each trademark or trade name must be distinguishable from all other names on file with the ACC or Secretary of State.[1] Trademarks registrations are active for 5 years, while trade names are valid for 10 years.[2]
Trademark Search
1. Go to the ‘Entity Search’ page
2. Select Search Option
Select the radio button next to one the following search options:
- Name
- File Number
- Owner or Agent
3. Enter Trademark Name
If researching the availability of a trademark or trade name, enter a short description or keyword into the Name field. The more general the description, the more results the search will yield.
4. View Search Results
The entity search will then provide a list of trademarks, trade names, and business entities registered with the Secretary of State or Arizona Corporation Commission that include or resemble the name entered in the search bar.
To view more information on a particular entity or trademark, click on the blue file number or arrow in the left-hand column.
5. View Trademark Record
If the file number of a trademark is clicked, a complete record will be presented including:
- Trademark name and description
- Business and mailing address
- Phone number
- Goods or services
- Classification
- Date of first use
- Date of first use in Arizona
- Registration date
- Expiration date
- Applicants
- Registration history
- Correspondence history
